Angeli Winery was officially registered in 2006 by Dan E. Proper, III and his wife Shelly. By January 10th, 2008 the tanks were at full capacity. The original tasting room opened in a beautifully renovated building that was previously the Porters House Restaurant. The downstairs continues to be restaurant ready with a 5 star atmosphere. All of the floors are beams are original to the building. As of February 2011, the tasting room and winery was moved to the former home of the historic E.K. Thompson & Son Pharmacy in the center of Titusville and next to Towne Square Eatery & Bake Shoppe operated by Shelly Proper.
Dan Proper, III began making wine in 1991. Dan is a self-taught winemaker, researching and learning by doing. Dan approaches wine making as an artisan, concentrating on quality. He is a Titusville native who went on to graduate from the Naval School of Health Science in San Diego, CA. Dan also attended Mercyhurst College and graduated in 1996. In early 2006, he began to pursue the concept of opening his own winery. This endeavor began as a personal interest after forming a home winemakers club with several friends. Dan’s love of winemaking grows with each batch of wine and he looks forward to many years of producing quality wines.
